Lectors assist the priest in proclaiming the Word of God at Mass. God uses the lector as an instrument to spread His word and change hearts. This important ministry requires the lector to read with a slow, clear voice; have a heart full of love; and have an understanding of the words being spoken. This comes with faith in God and practice of the scripture readings. Preparation books are provided and include the weekly readings, pronunciations, and a short dialog to help with understanding God’s words. Any confirmed Catholic may serve as a lector and participate in this important ministry.
